Annette Greene is a classic pinup model who’s lived all over from Dallas to Atlanta, Los Angeles to Chicago, Las Vegas to Sacramento, even a study abroad program that meant she got to stay in Paris for a few months. Having moved around quite a bit, she is glad to call Houston home. She loves classic cars and trucks, especially her new 1954 Chevy Bel Air. Annette is proud to be a founding member of the Benefit Betties and has a personal connection to all three of the major focus areas of Animals, The Troops and Women & Children. She enjoys listening to all music, especially 50’s pop and Rockabilly music, spending time with friends, family & her dog Black Jack, and shopping for shoes and vintage. Her favorite color has always been green, so much so that she adopted Greene as her pinup alias, and has even made it her legal last name! She’s the Retro Power Girl for the Retro Power hot rod shop in Liberty,Texas and can be seen in magazines like Retro Lovely, Atomic Bombshells, and Ol Skool Rodz.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I ate them every day for lunch for years. I still love a good PB&J!

What’s your favorite drink?

I love water or Diet Coke with a lime, not a lemon. If there is some Crown Royal in that Diet Coke (still with lime), I’m even happier. I also love red wine, right now my favorite it Bella Glos, which has a red wax top and feels extra special when you open it.

What do you absolutely hate doing?

Waking up early, I am NOT a morning person!

What is your favorite form of exercise?

Walking or hiking with my dog, Black Jack

What is your favorite day of the year?

Christmas, because I love to give presents, and spend time with the people I care for. I hate when people watch me open their presents though… oh, the pressure! I also love the decorations, anything sparkling, and the way snow looks.

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?

Sitting in traffic… does that count? 🙂 I love to drive!

What smell do you love?

I’m funny about smells, especially popular ones, and change my perfumes seasonally but always go back to my Bath and Body Works Dark Kiss. I cannot stand a strong flowery perfume, the smell of roses or cucumber. In Spring, I love lilac, the smell of Stargazer Lillies or strawberries. In Summer, I love orange or coconut scents. In the Fall, it’s all about apples, caramel, leaves and a warm cinnamon. For Winter, it’s usually smells of Christmas, like pine, and heavier more exotic scents.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Errol Flynn… sigh… my first crush… I grew up watching old movies with my mom, especially his and Elvis movies. If I’d been alive and of age when Errol Flynn was in his prime… oh lordy!

If you were a drink, what would it be?

Probably a Black Martini… it’s different, interesting, not everyone likes it, but if you do, you really like it. And it’s definitely stronger than you expect…

Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?

Depending on people’s level of interest in pinup: Bettie Page, Bernie Dexter or Maybelle Lee. I also get “You look like Snow White”, especially from kids.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

You’re Never Gonna Believe This…

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but it turned out to be for the best?

Oh, where do I start! It’s taken me a long time to be able to say, Okay, everything happens for a reason, and just because I don’t see the reason to this, doesn’t mean it’s not setting me up for something better.

What was the last movie, TV show or book that made you cry or tear up?

I cry easily, I’m a softie. I cry for TV commercials, contests like “The Voice” or “American Idol”, and any sad parts of movies. My favorite tear jerker movie is An Affair to Remember with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

I have been thru a lot, honestly, from being bullied, an eating disorder, an abusive relationship, serious depression, multiple divorces, medical issues and even a cancer scare, and each time I’ve had to look at what I DO want in my life and rebuild. I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo on my ribcage of a Phoenix, representing that after everything, I emerge stronger and filled with hope for the future.

What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?

I was bossy, always wanted to be in charge, and I was mean to my older brother and our neighbor (another boy) if they didn’t let me have my way. They were good, and sometimes let me have my way, but they did tell on me.

When was the last time you were nervous?

Yesterday! Because I’ve been on stage a lot, people don’t realize that I get REALLY nervous. Pinup contests are scary because you know you’re being judged. But when I have to speak for an extended period of time, like standing in front of a group giving a presentation for work, I get so nervous. I actually was almost put on academic probation for skipping too many speech classes during college!
