Benefit Betties Webmistress 2013-2015

Rock Star

Roxie is a multidimensional island goddess who will destroy you and bring you back to her home planet of Omicron Percei 8. Puny earth creatures can rarely please Roxie. They usually only come close when served with a side of balut. This time-traveling hipster from the future’s past grows weary of this planet, and aspires to make the world a better place, one cat picture at a time. Always full of surprises, she has attended vet tech school, is an autodidact in the study of stringed instruments, and is an entrepreneur. You can usually find her browsing the web, working on music, or a number of other crafts.

She’s also the webmistress, and annihilates spam on a daily basis. If she were to have a conversation with a piece of automated WordPress spam, that conversation would be “I WILL DESTROY YOU!” Roxie descends from a line of Filipino scholars and veterans maternally, and paternally is a 10th generation Texan. This is not a biography, it is a testament of pure awesomeness. She is fully capable and willing to make your day just a little better with her witty attitude and blissful jests. She takes on all while standing on none.

Roxie also exhibits the characteristics of several words that rhyme with her name, such as foxy, moxie, and sometimes epoxy.

Did we mention she makes the MOST delicious flan?

No? Good, because you can’t have any.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

If frozen water counts as a food, I would say ice. I loved popsicles, slushies, shaved ice, and even plain ice cubes.

What’s your favorite activity?

Creating art. I love the process of expressing an idea into a channel that makes someone feel the idea. It could be anything from dancing, singing, playing an instrument, building a sculpture, or writing. Art is a powerful tool and it is my preferred means of communication.

What do you absolutely hate doing?

Sticking to a set schedule. If I don’t get enough variety I become very apathetic.

What is your favorite form of exercise?

Roller skating! I love the feeling of the heavy skates gliding me over smooth wood floors. There is something unique about the experience that brings back fond memories of when I used to figure skate competitively.

What is your favorite holiday ?

Halloween. I used to wish Halloweentown from the Nightmare before Christmas was a real place so I would get to dress up in a different costume everyday without people thinking I was strange. I still like to wear costumes on random days of the year, but now I have accepted that its just more fun to be a little strange.

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?

Public transportation. Although it is interesting, I wouldn’t want to ride everyday.

What smell do you love?

Teen Spirit

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?

I would want to watch the time lapsed edit of the universe in all existence past, present AND future. But to make it easy, I pick Led Zeppelin Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1970

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Stanley Kubric, Bill Hicks, and Hunter S. Thompson.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I don’t wanna grow up. If I got to choose anything, I would become an eccentric millionaire.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

‘This Kittens’ got Claws’

What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?

Dead Girl – Acid Bath
Dumb – Nirvana
Working Class Hero – John Lennon
Lateralus – Tool
Flagpole Sitta – Harvey Danger

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but it turned out to be for the best?

Every time I have gotten fired, I ended up going on to more satisfying ventures. I am usually in denial about how unhappy the jobs made me, but my performance makes it impossible to hide. I enjoy chasing my dreams and gaining unique and unexpected life experiences.

What was one of the best parties you’ve ever been to?

The Benefit Betties 1st annual ball. Singing, dancing, fire, costumes, and beautiful Betties!

What was the last movie, TV show or book that made you cry or tear up?

‘Mary and Max’ is the last movie that really tugged at my emotions. It is a bit like the movie ‘Up’, but less for kids and way more depressing.

What is your first memory of being really excited?

When I was in grade school Elizabeth Taylor movies would come on TV. I would always get really excited to watch them because I just adored her look. I could never stay awake to see the ends, but I sure did try!

When was the last time you were nervous?

I get nervous every day.
